Validus-IVC Ltd, the fast growing insurance services business based in Norwich, today announced a number of key appointments to its senior team. Steve Crowe joins from Aviva as chief financial officer, Iain Bryce (also ex-Aviva), is the new programme & change director, and Ian Gray is appointed director of commercial partnerships.
They join Phil Becker (chief technology officer), who was appointed to the Validus executive team from Visa Europe in the Autumn of 2013. Validus chief executive Mike Srokowski said he had been delighted with the significant impact Mr Becker had made since joining Validus, particularly in terms of establishing the solid technical foundation from which the firm’s technology-based solutions are now being introduced to the motor insurance market.
He said: “We are in a sweet spot where we are delivering significant organic growth and introducing a broad range of new products and services, in line with the changes in the motor claims market, that meet the evolving requirements of our growing customer base.”
“These new appointments are a big step forward in our aim to become the number one supplier of technology solutions to the UK motor claims market,” said Mr Srokowski, who said: “Our plan is to build upon the growing market expectation and fulfil our strong growth prospects following the MBO last year in conjunction with Lloyds Development Capital (LDC).
Mr Srokowski said that Steve Crowe, who reports to the CEO, will join the Validus Board after 10 years in a variety of director-level finance roles at Aviva, and will take additional responsibility for group strategy and M&A. Mr Crowe said: “Mike painted a compelling picture of the opportunity at Validus, and I’m delighted to be able to join the team at such an exciting time.”
Iain Bryce was previously a senior project manager in Aviva’s claims team, and spent 14 years in the UK general insurance business. He said: “I have watched Validus’ meteoric rise from the insurance side with great interest, and I’m looking forward to bringing my skills and experience to help Validus hone its client proposition.”
Ian Gray, who joins the business after four years in the claims team at LV=, said: “Validus is on a trajectory to lead the sector thanks to their combination of market knowledge and a strong focus on technology investment. Technology is revolutionising the entire claims industry so it is a great time for me to be joining such an entrepreneurial team.”
